Recently, Dr. Rafael Tun, a friend and colleague celebrated his 25th anniversary as the medical director of the Mission Healthcare program in San Lucas Toliman located on the shores of beautiful Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. Dr Tun grew up in San Lucas Toliman and was inspired by his brother who died while studying medicine to pursue a career in medicine. I have personally worked side by side with this dedicated servant of Jesus, the Great Physician.
A humble and soft-spoken man of God, Dr. Tun epitomizes a servant leader. His favorite saying is “Que bueno”- That is good. He always uses the phrase, “We were born to live and we live to serve. That is what I do. I live to serve my community. It is incredibly fulfilling to be able to serve the people with the greatest need. I am very grateful for all the donations (of time, talent, and treasure) which makes this critical program possible.”
Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.
