What Should, What Is, What If…

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

Have you ever pondered the words what should, what is, and what if? Recently, I saw a video on how anxiety can be channeled into gratitude to promote peace in the present moment. The brain cannot process anxiety and gratitude simultaneously. It is one or the other. Choose gratitude as it is the antidote for negative thinking. What should I have done keeps us in the past. What if keeps us focused on the future, while what is promotes a mindfulness experience in the present moment. That’s where Jesus is!

Jesus is not living in the past; he encourages us to nurture the divine exchange with him moment to moment in the present moment as He will guide us into the future. Worries about the past and future rob us of His peace in the present moment. When we focus on Jesus, this becomes a wonderful mindfulness moment and draws us closer to him. Remember Jesus can do more with your surrender than your control.

Inhale Love, Exhale Gratitude and focus on Jesus!
