You Are God’s Highlight

Today’s Daily Devotion – November 14 2022

By Khai Samante

“He found him in a desert land,

And in the howling waste of a wilderness;

He encircled him, He cared for him,

He guarded him as the pupil of His eye.

— Deuteronomy 32:10

In other version, it is written, “He found him out in the wilderness, in an empty, windswept wasteland. He threw his arms around him, lavished attention on him, guarding him as the apple of his eye (v. 10 MSG).” Let me echo what the scripture says: God found us, wrapped His arms around us, lavished us with attention, and watched over us as the apple of His eye. That’s how precious we are to our Father. In fact, that is only a glimpse of how much He loves us.

During a weekend getaway with church friends, we shared the highlights of our week. One of our friends reminded us that, while we have awesome highlights in our lives that reflect God’s favor and blessings, we are also God’s highlights. Before we find Jesus, Jesus found us first. He rescued us from the howling waste of wilderness. Before we embraced Jesus, Jesus threw His arms around us first. He stepped in to protect, help, and strengthen us. Before we cared about what Jesus did on the cross, Jesus cared for us first. That’s why He sacrificed His life for us.

This week, may you begin knowing and believing that you are the apple of His eye. God sees your pain, your struggles, your weaknesses, your fears, and your tears. God is aware of your situation. You are the object of His affection, and He regards you as the most valuable in His eyes. He takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love (Psalm 147:11).

You are seen and known by God.
