Together We Can!

For whoever is not against us is for us.

Mark 9:40

Juntos Podemos is Spanish for “together we can.” This is Jesus’ message to his overzealous disciples in chapter 9 of Mark’s gospel who are concerned about others driving out demons in His name. Jesus reassures them, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us. Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.”

Jesus teaches his disciples the important lesson of discernment through the words and actions of others that many will be potential friends and allies.
