Peace is the Only War Worth Waging

Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.

Leviticus 19:34

I am blessed to write this daily devotion on Thanksgiving Day. There is always something to be grateful for each day. Each day is a new beginning. A day prior, a temporary cease fire was signed between Israel and Hezbollah while the war in Gaza continues. As war inflicts its untold suffering on many innocent people, we must remind ourselves and strive for “peace as the only war worth waging.”

I speak God’s favor over humanity for a return to love, forgiveness, kindness, and compassion. The best revenge is no revenge. Let us forgive so we may be forgiven as the Lord instructs us in the Lord’s prayer. The prophet Moses reminds us in Leviticus 19:33-34 what God commands of his people: “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”

Let’s lead with love!
