Jesus is Moved with Pity

When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

Luke 7:13

While traveling to Nain with his disciples Jesus comes upon a dead man being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. ‘When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her, Do not weep.” Jesus showed a gut-wrenching kind of compassion. This is the compassion that God feels for each of us when we are grieving.

Our God is full of compassion. Just as Jesus saw the widow of Nain in her anguish, he sees you. He is not distant or cold and his heart aches with love for you. God doesn’t ask you to wipe the tears from your eyes. He is truly Emmanuel, God is with us. Jesus is with us in our joy and in our sorrow. Run into the arms of Jesus, there is no safer place.
