Long Live The King!

They proclaimed him king and anointed him, clapping their hands and shouting, “Long live the king!”

2 Kings 11:12

Joash became the adolescent king of Judah after six long years under the evil and oppressive leadership of the tyrannical queen Athaliah. She systematically killed off all the other members of the royal family except for Joash, the rightful heir to the throne. Truly this was a dark period for the Jewish people as they were even forced to worship the false god Baal.

Centuries prior to this, God promised David that his kingdom would endure forever. Joash was part of God’s plan to reestablish the right relationship with him. Just as in our own lives God may be calling you back to Him as you step out in your faith. How is God’s plan unfolding in your life? Each day is a new beginning. Each day God provides fresh “manna” with abundant graces and mercy. Seek the one who specializes in brokenness. Talk to Jesus my guiding light!
