Upward and Onward to Greater Glory!

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:14

The word excelsior means “upward and onward to greater glory.” This is exactly the message that the apostle Paul wrote in Philippians as he admonished believers to look not behind but ahead and up: “But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (VV.13-14).

At times we easily become entangled in regrets or second-guessing past decisions. Jesus reminds us that He is with us in the present moment and to press forward, upward, and onward to God’s greater glory through embracing the love and forgiveness that He graciously gives us. Always remember, the best is yet to come!
