Set Your Boundaries

Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

1 Corinthians 15:33

Read 1 Corinthians 15:29-34

What information are you letting in? What responsibilities are you owning? Who are the people you are allowing to accompany you? A quote says, “Boundaries don’t keep other people out, they fence you in.” We can’t do everything, and we can’t let everything inside our system. This is something that we should keep on reminding ourselves of.

A lot of things can easily influence us if we will not build a fence to guard us. Social media, for example, can easily influence who we are or who we should be without us noticing. Part of the responsibility God gave us is ownership. We need to know what is our job and what is not, what we should let in and what we should keep outside our fence. It takes wisdom to discern this, however, by doing so, we are keeping ourselves from the devil’s foot hole that can lead to our own destruction. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:33 not to be deceived for bad company ruins good morals.

Boundaries are not walls to block people out. The boundary we build is our safe place, where we can grow and be the person God called us to be. No one can do this for us. Ask God for wisdom and have a heart check to define boundaries and recognize them as an existing reality that can improve love and save life. There are things, habits, and even relationships we allowed to take hold of our life. It is time to put an end to them.

Know who you are in Christ, or else the world will tell you who you are.
