You are in an exclusive club, representing 1% of our population that has ever worn a uniform. To date, that number is 44 million; 23 million of us are still alive.
You are the best equipped and finest trained uniformed services in the world. You have pledged your allegiance to serve and protect our country. You live by Duty, Honor, and Country. Your valor has never been in question. Please continue to take care of one another.
This country needs your help to be the leaders in empowering ourselves to the optimal health of our mind, body and spirit. It comes through discipline-our way of life. When we “own our health” we will build a healthy, vibrant and resilient nation. Paramount to our resilience is finding pure peace in the present moment. The late Buddhist monk, Thic Nhat Hahn, captures this vision beautifully:
“Veterans are the light at the tip of the candle, illuminating the way for the whole nation. If Veterans can achieve awareness, transformation, understanding and peace…they can teach us how to make peace with ourselves and each other, so we never have to use violence to resolve conflicts again.”
May God bless you, your families and the United States of America!
