Fasting and Feasting

Today's Daily Devotion - March 27, 2022

By Dr. George J. Ceremuga

This rather is the fasting that I wish. - Isaiah 58:6

This was the first reading at Ash Wednesday mass. We had more people at Ash Wednesday service than at our regular Sunday mass. I joked with Father Ed that we should distribute ashes every Wednesday. He got a chuckle out of that! Lent is a time of reflection focusing on prayer, fasting, and alms giving. I tend to embrace active steps to be more like Jesus Christ: humility, love, and forgiveness.

Let me share some Lenten thoughts on fasting and feasting:

Fast from grumbling and feast on gratefulness

Fast from food and feast on scripture

Fast from gossip and feast on building up others

Fast from complaining and feast on thankfulness

Fast from judging and feast on acceptance

Fast from your plan and feast on God’s plan

Fast from talking and feast on listening

And always lead with Love!
