A Grateful World

Imagine what a grateful world would look like. Gratitude starts with you and me. It means taking the illogical step of thanking God for his goodness and love for the struggles and sufferings in our lives. For when we do, our hearts soften, and we rise above the circumstances. We then use our knowledge of scripture and positive affirmations to remind us that we will always be children of God. God’s love is unconditional.

A gratitude journal is very helpful to capture the moments in our lives that reflect our deep love and admiration for all that God has and will continue to do for us in our lives. Allow gratitude to swell in your heart to where you echo the words of the hymn, “How can I keep from singing?” St. Thomas Aquinas taught that gratitude is a matter of justice-of giving God his due. Finally, the apostle Paul says, “In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
