God is Immutable

This is one of my most favorite attributes of God. He is a God who does not change. Like what Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” His character and eternal purpose remain constant. The God of Noah, Abraham, Joseph, and Moses is the same loving, faithful, gracious, and merciful God that we have in the present. He is also the same God who responds to our repentance with forgiveness, the same God who does not give up on us despite all our mess and stubbornness. He is the same God who loves us the same despite of our past, present, and future iniquities.

We can always trust God because He is immutable. God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? (Numbers 23:19). We can have peace, because in God, we have the assurance of stability and confidence, especially during the times of uncertainty. We can always have security even of our future because His promises and His purposes are certain and will never fail. “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3).
