God Provides

Read James 1:12-18

Do you know that every good and perfect gift is from above? It is not from our own effort, knowledge, strength, nor mere luck. James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Our Lord God provides all things for us. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 4:7, “For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?”

Waiting is defined as “the action of staying where one is or delaying action until a particular time or until something else happens.” Waiting shows an expected resilience that is displayed by an active, purposeful, and valiant prayer guided by the Holy Spirit—eyes fixed on God and not on what we lack. We make ourselves slaves again whenever we focus on what we don’t have and try to achieve things on our own terms rather than the Lord’s. As we set our eyes on God, He prepares us and equips us with strength, power, and wisdom. God has a purpose for us in every season of our life. Let us allow God to mold and grow us while we are still in the season of waiting. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures (v. 18).
