Why is Jesus’ death on the cross the best way possible for our salvation. Let’s say that Jesus had just come into the world and He just taught people how to be good. If you do that and follow my commandments, you can go to heaven. He could have done that. By dying, what Jesus is teaching us was that it was worth it in the eyes of God, the Father, to give His life in exchange for yours.
In John 17:33, “Father may they know that you have loved them even as you have loved me.” This is a remarkable statement. God loves us with the same intensity of love with what He loves His eternal begotten Son, Jesus. That means that the salvation of man in the eyes of God is a greater good than the life of God. He was willing to exchange the life of God for the salvation of man.
In God’s eyes, we have an infinite dignity. If God had not died in that way, we would never understand just how much God loves us.
God is Love!
