Let God Enter Into Our Hearts

Revelation 3:20 Daily Devotion Scripture

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. — Revelation 3:20

This is a lovely depiction of how Jesus reaches out to us. He comes to our house and patiently knocks and waits outside. He does not force himself into our house. We, as the owners of the house, have the authority to decide whether to let him in.

There are several possibilities:
(1) We hardly notice that someone is at the door because of the noise inside our house—busy career, distraction, selfish desires.
(2) We hear someone outside but choose not to pay attention or even pretend we hear nothing.
(3) We clearly heard the knock, checked who was at the door, but we refuse to let him in because we dislike the visitor or do not want to do anything related to him.
(4) Although we were not expecting the person knocking on the door, we opened it and gladly welcomed him in.

Which scenario do you prefer? What would keep you from letting Jesus in? Jesus awaits an invitation from any willing individual. He is standing at the door, patiently waiting for us to open it and welcome him into our lives. Let God enter into our hearts. He promised fellowship to anyone who heard His voice and opened the door.

Welcome Jesus!
