Read Psalm 5
According to Global Study Bible, this individual lament from David is the first psalm that prays for the downfall of one’s enemies. In verses 4-8, David listed contrasts between the wicked man and the godly man. He has been feeling the sting of evil words and lies targeting him. Yet this prayer indicates that something good is taken out of these assaults.
You may go through a tough time now. You may feel helpless in your situation or in what is happening around you. Like David, you can start your day by directing your prayer to God and looking up with expectancy to heaven, with confidence that God heard your prayer and He will answer. We can voice out to God everything that we are going through, we can even rant our frustrations to Him. God will listen and He will never be intimidated with whatever we will say in our prayer.
Instead of meditating on the pain, meditate on God’s righteous character. He is full of mercy and we can ground our confidence on that. Those who trust in God have a promise of joy and gladness because they know that God can always bring unexpected and beautiful things out of the worst situations. They also have the greatest blessing, which is the favor of the Lord.
