Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. - Isaiah 60:1
Read Isaiah 60:1-3
We are living in a world wrapped in darkness. John 3:19 says, “…and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.” Some of us are enjoying the darkness so much because we are afraid to expose in the light the wrong things we have been doing. For some, they surrendered their life to the light of Jesus, and yet still lives their life in the shadows.
Jesus, the glorious Redeemer, is our light. Isaiah says our light has come, hence, what is our response to this light? God wants us to respond to the light—to arise and shine! He doesn’t want us to continue living in the darkness. Once we have received Jesus, we should not live in the darkness anymore but become the salt and light of the world. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin (1 John 5:6-7).
What is your response to the light of God?
Jesus is the light of the world.
