“Do not be afraid; only believe.” - Mark 5:36
Believe. What do you believe in? What do you believe about yourself? What are you believing in God for? Take some time to reflect on what you believe, not what you think, hope, or speculate about.
The word “believe” comes from the Greek root pisteuo, which means “to be persuaded as true.” Faith is a path through which God’s power can intervene in Jesus’ ministry. The woman with a blood condition has such strong faith that she is healed without the intervention of Jesus. Jairus’ daughter is raised from the dead because he believed. In Capernaum, however, Jesus was unable to do much more than lay hands on a few ill people and heal them because He couldn’t get past their lack of faith (Mark 6:1–6).
Our lack of faith confines God to a box. Our doubts limit God’s ability to intervene in our circumstances. When unbelief knocks on our door, remember who God is and what He has promised, and ask God to help us in our unbelief.
All things are possible for him who believes.
