Surely, LORD!

Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. — Psalm 5:12
Read Psalm 5
In the first part of Psalm 5, we can see the psalmist’s confidence that God hears his prayers. He trusts God will answer, hence he waits expectantly. In the next verses, he describes the contrast of a wicked and a godly man. Instead of seeking revenge himself, the psalmist asks God for justice. Then the last verses of the psalm describe how God blesses and gives favor for those who are righteous and who take refuge in him.
Grace is God’s extension of the benevolence of coming down to us in His Kindness to reach us in our need; it is God’s ‘unmerited favor.’ Psalm 5:12 says, “Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” The psalmist states “surely,” which implies he speaks with assurance. Can you confidently declare today, “Surely the Lord will keep His promises!”
Expecting and proclaiming God’s favor is more than just wishful thinking. It’s having the perspective that because we come from a royal bloodline, doors of opportunity will open, amazing breaks will occur, and divine appointments will occur to us. We are not ordinary people; we are God’s sons. He has distinguished us and rewarded us with His favor. Let us make it a practice to acknowledge God’s kindness and thank Him in advance every day.
Pray for God’s blessing in your situation!
