Psalm 146:5 Daily Devotion Scripture

Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God. — Psalms 146:5

Psalm 146 starts with “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!” The psalmist starts with worship and adoration for the Lord and followed it with a reflection of what the people of God had been through—reasons He alone deserves praises. It begins with a series of five last songs in the Book of Psalms known as the Hallelujah Psalms.

We can trust God and put our hope in Him because God made everything. He always does what he says—he defends the wronged, he feeds the hungry. God frees prisoners—he gives sight to the blind, he lifts up the fallen. He loves good people, protects strangers, takes the side of orphans and widows, but makes short work of the wicked. God’s in charge—always (Psalm 146:6-10 MSG). Princes among men frequently fail, but God never disappoints those who put their trust in Him. When we put our trust in man, we deprive God of his glory; we give others the confidence that is solely his.

In the ups and downs of our life, we can always put our hope in God. May we always choose to trust in Him because even in our unfaithfulness, He remains faithful to us. Let’s declare praises to our God!

In worship, let us recall God’s faithfulness.
