Upon This Rock

On my recent travels to Ireland, I attended Sunday mass on May 1 at St. John the Baptist church in Ballyvaughn. Father Flanangan gave a beautiful homily on forgiveness-love in action. Father spoke of Jesus’ unconditional love for Peter as Jesus questioned him 3 times, “do you love me?” Jesus knew that of all his Apostles, Peter needed the most grace. Jesus never spoke of Peter’s denial of him on the way to the cross. On the contrary, Jesus showed great mercy and invited Peter to “feed my sheep” as the leader of His church.

Jesus knew the capabilities of Peter and saw only the potential. Jesus believed in Peter, just as He believes in you and me. Peter’s past did not define him. Jesus defined him and Jesus loved him unconditionally. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His love is constant and steadfast. We are all worthy of His love so claim your inheritance as a prophet, priest, king, queen of the most High Jesus Christ as we lead with love!
