Father Leonard gave an inspiring homily on the weeds among the wheat parable recently. He starts by saying, “The world, Jesus says, is like a field in which wheat and seeds grow together. Each is a mixture of good and evil. People are instinctively led to divide humankind into two groups: the good ones and the wicked ones, the friends and the enemies. The tragic consequences of such distinction and division is intolerance which often leads to tension and violence.
We know that Jesus came to heal the sick and sinners. Jesus acknowledges the evil in the world and invites us to spread the gospel message of salvation to all ends of the earth in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He also reminds us that on His return evil will exist no more! Look in our own hearts the weeds that need pulled so our hearts become more aligned with Christ’s: humble, loving and forgiving. Let us remember that the only person qualified to throw a stone…DIDN’T!
Only Jesus can change your heart... so let Him!
