A Kind Word

Read Colossians 4:2-6

When you talk to yourself or others, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Do you use your words to bring life or to bring pain to others?

Cursing sounded cool to me before I encountered Christ. I enjoyed interjecting swear words between each word or sentence. The world encourages us to believe that using harsh, disrespectful, and profane words is normal.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” God wants to empower us to use our tongues to offer life strength and encouragement, not selfishness and disorder. He desires we bless rather than curse. Using simple comments like “Thank you!”, “Have a wonderful day!”, and “May God bless you!” are a few ways to make a change. A kind word can turn someone’s day around, try it!

Are we utilizing every opportunity for good to exist every time we speak?
