The Lord Is Kind and Merciful!

I have been in the St. Isaac Jogues choir for six years now. Last month, I had the opportunity to be a cantor at mass. As I was singing the responsorial song, I looked out at the congregation and lost my place- resulting in a pregnant pause. Through the grace of God, I recovered quickly with the “The Lord is kind and merciful” responsorial song. I then finished strong with the Acclamation: “I give you a new commandment, says the Lord: love one another as I have loved you.” John 13:34

I gave the congregation an opportunity to live the gospel message of that day from Luke 6:27-38, “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Stop judging and you will not be judged. Forgive and you will be forgiven.” Indeed, it was a humbling experience, and I am no worse for the wear. I look forward to the next opportunity to cantor, as each day is a new beginning.
