Liver and Onions
Today's Daily Devotion - December 8, 2021
By Dr. George J. Ceremuga
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him
In yesterday’s devotion I mentioned that I am a hunter and gatherer as are all our ancestors. Last month I was blessed to spend a week with good friends hunting elk in the San Juan mountains of southern Colorado. I have been hunting there for 25 years and look forward to this annual pilgrimage. For many years, three generations of Ceremuga’s made the day-long drive to enjoy time with good friends, eat delicious food, and enjoy hunting in the God’s creation. The scenery was breathtaking bearing witness to almighty God. Indeed, harvesting an elk is the bonus.
At supper on Thursday, I offered a blessing before our meal. I also asked God’s favor to harvest elk so that we could enjoy a traditional meal of liver and onions on Saturday. We all acknowledged God’s sense of humor and that God has promised that, when we ask for things that are in accordance with His will for our lives, He will give us what we ask for (1 John 5:14-15). God gave us what was asked of him as we harvested 3 elk the following morning all for the glory of God. The day was magical, and God showed up big. I looked up to the heavens with a big smile and said, “God that was you.”
Indeed, that was you God!
