The Power to Transform Us

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. —Luke 6:37

Read: Ezekiel 36:26–27

Children learn by imitating. Children are the best “copy cats,” imitating the sounds of animals or vehicles they observe around them and learning from their parents and other people they are always with. Adults are likewise prone to imitating those we admire. Leadership style, lifestyle, and fashion are all examples. However, it is not what we do on the outside that defines us. It is who we are on the inside. We can join volunteer projects like those we see at church, raise our hands in worship, or conduct Bible study groups and still not understand or personally experience the changing power of Jesus Christ.

Ezekiel 36:26–27 says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.” Nothing we can do will change the state of our hearts. Only Jesus, by His radical love for us, has the power to transform us. He has the power to change us if we ask Him to. He can give us a new heart that will not judge or condemn others. Because we, too, have received forgiveness and love from Him, He can transform us into people who can forgive out of love.

God can change our heart if we will ask Him to.
