We Are Many Parts, But We Are All One Body

We are many parts, we are all one body, and the gifts we have we are given to share. May the spirit of love, make us one indeed. One, the love that we share. One, our hope in despair. One, the cross that we bear. This is the refrain of a very popular church hymn. The Apostle Paul reminds us that “for in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body, whether Jews or Greeks, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13).”

Paul later shares the different gifts that the Holy Spirit gives out freely and encourages each person to strive eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts. Each person helps the “body of Christ” stand firm and move forward on the path of holiness. Imagine if each of us were to invite the Spirit into everything that we do for the Lord and his people—the body of Christ would brightly shine with the Glory of God!
