Water is Life : Physically and Spiritually

Video Timestamp: 11:04

Water is life physically and spiritually. And we’ve talked about this many times. Our bodies are 70% water and so we need to drink half our weight in ounces a bottled, filtered, or spring water every day. So if you’re 150 pounds, 75 ounces of water is important. And we’ll talk about why here shortly. Spiritually, living water is a symbol for salvation and a true knowledge of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

So we’ll talk about that as well here in a few slides. So, God provides us with everything we need, and is the living water, that continues to always give to us.

The Physical : Mni Wiconi, Agua es Vida, Water is Life

The physical, Mni Wiconi, Agua es vida, water is life. Every body system depends on adequate hydration for our cells to grow, for controlling our body temperature, lubricating our joints, humidifying our lungs, alleviates fatigue, prevents infections, removes toxins. And, you know, we can only live a few days without water. We know it’s important.

So let’s get into the 20 health benefits of water.

20 Physical Health Benefits of Water

1. Lowers Blood Pressure

And so it actually lowers our blood pressure. Why? Because when we have enough water in our blood, because our blood is 70% water, it keeps the blood vessels relaxed. And if there’s a lack of water, and then too much salt in our blood vessels, it increases water in the blood vessels because the body wants to hold onto it. And so then the heart has to pump against increased, what we call systemic faster resistance, pressure away from the heart. And so that increases our blood pressure. So just by drinking water, it helps lower our blood.

2. Decreases Cholesterol, Strokes and Heart

And the second health benefit decreases cholesterol. And by decreasing cholesterol, because of increased fluid intake, decreases our strokes and our heart disease that high cholesterol can cause.

3. Moisturizes the Skin

It moisturizes the skin. Remember our skin is our largest organ. And reduces the aging, the wrinkles, and improves our elasticity.

4. Reduces Acne and Scars

Remember, our skin is our largest organ. And so the more water we drink, the less oil is produced that can block the pores. And then we add exercise and sweating. It helps turn over the oil and it helps clear skin.

5. Reduces Water Retention

The body’s amazing. If we’re not drinking enough, the blood vessels want to hold on to water and then we can get a little puffy. Okay. And so actually retaining water. It can be a sign of dehydration.

6. Eliminates Body Waste

Our overall health will improve because we remove toxins. We’ll saturate the blood and store it in the cells instead of being eliminated. And so remember that stock dam analogy versus the flowing stream, a stock dam, a little pond, in August when things are dry and there’s a lot of moss and bugs, and it’s stagnant water. So it breeds infection. It’s not a source of vitality versus that running stream that is a source of vitality. And the water is cool. And it’s water that you want to drink. And that’s our body if we’re drinking enough water. It’s full of life, vitality, versus the stock dam.

7. Natural Energy Boost

And that’s one of the things we recommend for increasing our energy. Big glass of water and do some brain yoga, head, shoulders, knees, and toes, get out and move a little bit, deep breathing, inhale love, exhale gratitude. Because dehydration is the number one cause of fatigue.

Water creates this magnetic and electrical energy in every cell. And so when we saturate our body with water, it’s giving the body what it needs to be healthy. And then when we get those quick energy drinks, caffeine, and soda, those quick boosts that actually then over time, worsens the dehydration and causes us to have that fatigue and that lack of energy.

8. Prevent Headaches

The brain and lots of our organs are very sensitive to dehydration. So headache tells us, it’s the body’s message to drink more water. Just like for me, when my back aches, it’s because I’m dehydrated. I rehydrate and the back, it goes away. Some people their belly will start to hurt. Other people’s their joints. The very common is headaches for people that have a lack of water.

9. Slows the Aging Process

Getting back to the skin. Okay. Let’s age gracefully. It flushes out the toxins out of our cells through our urine, through our stool, through our breath, through our sweat.

10. Weight Loss

You know, dehydration does slow down our metabolism. So the more hydrated we are, the higher our metabolism will be. So we burn calories by drinking water, which is, there’s no calories at all. Okay? And I’d like to add a couple of teaspoons of raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar, with the mother, with lemon, and that even accelerates that weight loss as well. And it keeps us full to satiety. And remember to drink half our weight in ounces of good bottled, filtered, or spring water every day.

11. Lowers Blood Sugars with Diabetes

Especially for people with diabetes. High blood sugars can cause dehydration that sugar causes water osmotically to follow. And so more water will help keep our blood sugars low and keep us full. And we won’t be eating some things that maybe we shouldn’t eat.

12. Joint Health

It really does help our spine, our elbows, our knees, our hips, any of our joints. It helps provide those minerals for optimal health through our water. You remember, those joints are cushions that support the weight of our body. And so when we hydrate those cushions, then we just feel better. Those joints are more protective. It’s like shock absorbers in our vehicles.

13. Cancer Prevention

because remember cancers, a buildup of toxins within cells. And so then the cells behave radically, and they multiply out of control. And so we know the more we move our bowels, the more we move our bladder urination, it can decrease the risks of colon and bladder cancers.

14. Eye Health

The cornea is 80% water. Lots of times we have dry eyes, especially with indoor desk job, looking at computers, social media, as well as outside construction jobs or agricultural jobs can dry out the eyes. So it is very important to keep hydrated. You can use some artificial tears as well if you need. But the key is hydrate from the inside out.

15. Neurological Disorders

Just like the lungs and the brain for headaches is sensitive to lack of water, the same of their blood vessels that become inflamed leading to plaques and microtrauma.

And this may precipitate multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease or even Parkinson’s disease. Water is life!

16. Mental Health Disorders

Anxiety and depression. Remember the number one cause of fatigue is lack of water. Low energy levels can cause us not to exercise cause us not to be feel upbeat and happy. And that could be a vicious cycle with anxiety and depression. And it. The water replenishes our serotonin or dopamine, or nor epinephrine everything we need to feel happy and to feel fully alive.

17. Improves Sleep

Not only does it help our serotonin dopamine or epinephrine increases our melatonin, that’s our sleep natural sleep hormone. water It really truly is life and poor sleep quality can cause depression, anxiety and elevated blood. Increased cortisol, cortisol levels and suppress our immune system. It really is basic and simple. The 5 pillars of wellness. And that first pillar is water’s life.

18. Improves Immunity

You know, add a little rod until filtered apple cider vinegar with the mother lemon, honey, ginger. It really can improve our immunity and fight viruses and bacteria and infection.

19. Improves Digestion

Video timestamp: 00:21:00

It increases our metabolism. Remember, I’m really an advocate of the raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar, a couple teaspoons of the vinegar with the mother and lemon, 30 minutes prior to meals to prime, the parietal cells that release acid into the gut. Get our stomachs ready to digest and absorb our nutrients. And avoid lots of fluids with meals. We’ve been taught wrong growing up. Okay. And so we can change that habit, just a little glass, maybe to help with your meal because large amounts of fluids, it just dilutes our stomach acid and our food doesn’t digest and it doesn’t get absorbed.

Video Timestamp: 00:21:40

And then we get reflux and if the food just sits there and we feel bloated. Okay. And so water does help with regular bowel movements and remove of toxins through our stool or urine or breath through, through our sweat

20. Osteoporosis Prevention

and last but not least number 20 osteoporosis prevention. Did you know that a lack of water can promote calcium being leached from our bones?

Video Timestamp: 00:22:07

So maintain proper hydration, avoid excessive caffeine, alcohol and soda and sugary drinks. Taking our vitamin D3, 5 to 10,000 units in the winter months. And you want to get your vitamin D level checked just to make sure you’re in a good, healthy range. And then if you’re not consuming a lot of the rainbows of colors with our fruits and vegetables, add vitamin C, at least a thousand milligrams daily, we need vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium, all that works together.

The Spiritual : Living water is a symbol for Salvation

Video Timestamp: 00:22:41

Okay. Very important. So now let’s switch gears. Remember we talked about water’s life, both physically, but now spiritually living water is a symbol for salvation and a true knowledge of God, Jesus and the holy spirit, the triune God by living water, Jesus is referring to the eternal life that the holy spirit gives, as Jesus said in John 7:37-39 If anyone is thirsty. Let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me as the scripture said from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.

Life giving water of God’s Spirit

John 4:10, Jesus answered. If you knew the gift of God. And who was asking you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would, and it would have given you living water and more on this first here in a bit,

John 7:37 on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice. If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink

John 7:38. Whoever believes in me as the scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.

For life giving water of God’s spirit out of Isaiah 44:3 I will pour water on him who is thirsty and floods on the dry ground. I will pour my spirit on your descendants and my blessing on your offspring.

So now let’s picture a desert dry barren wasteland without rolling sand dunes and maybe a tree or two in the distance.

However, the focus is this passage out of Isaiah is not on a physically dry land, but rather on a spiritually dry land, the lifeless ground of people’s sin, their hardened hearts, their selfishness, this vivid imagery of a dry thirsty wilderness to PR to portray our needs as humans for the life-giving water of God’s Spirit.

Video Timestamp: 00:24:55

Water is used as a picture of salvation, as we see in today’s verse and a number of other times, and in the book of Isaiah with joy, you will draw water from the Wells of salvation. So the life giving water of God’s spirit is salvation. And that’s the Intertwining of the father, the son, and the holy spirit. That’s the, the life giving water,

The Lord calls to any who will come and drink of his salvation

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for the righteousness, for they shall be filled – Matthew 5:6

Ultimately this promise finds its fulfillment in Jesus and the salvation offered through his blood.

Video Timestamp: 00:25:47

The Lord calls to anyone who comes and drinks his salvation. When talking with the Samaritan woman at the well, Jesus said, if you knew the gift of God and who was, who says to you, give me a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.

That’s the salvation, the woman was understandably confused. So she asked how and where Jesus would get this living water, the Lord calls to anyone who comes, will come and drink of his salvation.

His powerful answer. Jesus said to her, whoever drinks of this water will thirst again. But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst, but the water that I shall give him will become in him. A fountain of water springing up into everlasting life salvage. Jesus Christ is the water of life.

And those who are his having an eternal well of living water.

Are you drinking from that fountain? Or are you parched and thirsty? Water is life! physically and spiritually.

Physically, to keep our bodies healthy as temples of the holy spirit.

Spiritually, It’s our salvation living water is a symbol for salvation and a true knowledge of God, Jesus, and the holy spirit.
